Plan Africa:

Plan Africa is growing network of Permaculture practioners in Africa working towards a Permaculture plan for our continent. It creates a platform for Permaculture in Africa to promote a new African economic and ecological revolution utilising available natural resources and available social capital.

Plan Africa promotes sustainable livelihoods utilising a package of solutions applicable to the Africa situation. Plan Africa supported by Permaculture Latin America is proud to be hosting a Ferro-cement workshop in the Elim area of Limpopo
Province.

What does it Cost:

The workshop has a R200 registration fee, the rest is free of charge to all participants. Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and food costs.

When does it take Place?

The workshop starts at 8am on Tues the 1st of September and ends on Tues the 8th September at 4pm.

What will you learn?

Participants will learn how to build:
• a low cost sealed 20 000 litre water tank
• a composting toilet.

Who can Attend?

The workshop is suitable for any artisan that has some experience with building and
plastering.

Where?

Accommodation is at Bungeni, Shitachi village,
Workshop at Bondwe village 12km from Elim towards Giyane.
Accommodation: Accommodation is available in the village for R150 per night or at Majisa Hotel for R250 - R300. Please contact John Nzira for more info on accommodation 083 665 3356 or jonzira@yahoo.co.uk

Training:

The training will be conducted by 3 Brazilian experts in the Ferro-cement field who have been instrumental in developing thousands of ferro-cement water tanks in Brazil.

Booking:

To book please contact Nicholas Heinamann nic@afristar.org.za, 011 706 5614

Business Opportunity:

This workshop offers builders and plasterers an opportunity to learn new skills to build low cost water tanks that are cheaper and healthier than the modern JoJo water tanks. These skills can then be applied to setting up a business that builds water tanks.
Building a Ferro-Cement Water Tank You will also learn to build composting toilets that do not require water and are a hygienic solution to sanitary problems in South Africa that also make compost from human waste that can be used to fertilse soil on orchards and trees.

Funders:

This Ferro-cement workshop is a partnership project of Permaculture Latin America, Urban Farming and Afristar Foundation and is generously funded by the Zakat Foundation based in the USA.

For more info, download this brochure.
