Nutritional supplement for HIV/AIDS and malnourished patients questionable?

Major aid organisations are promoting the use and distribution of PlumpyNut for severely malnourished people and for people suffering from HIV/AIDS.
However, this nutritional supplement may be a misguided and dangerous response, and its sustainability as a way to improve food security is questionable.
