Wu Chi - Energy of the Primordial Void
Taoist thought asserts that the myriad phenomena of this universe emerged from Wu Chi - an original, formless void pregnant with
cosmic energy which in its formlessness contained the potential for all forms.
“The way that can be spoken of
is not the constant way;
The name that can be named
is not the constant name;
The nameless was the beginning of heaven and earth;
The named was the mother of the myriad creatures.”
(Tao Te Ching; Verse 1)
The polarity of heaven and earth is thought to have sparked the emergence of the myriad forms.
